Rebecca Spring is the sole owner and instructor at Wildfire Pilates LLC.
Rebecca Spring earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota in History and her graduate degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Health Systems Administration. In 2003 she commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, serving in Alaska and later deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for 16 months. A back injury sustained while serving overseas led her to surgery and very long road of chronic pain. Through years of doctor visits, medical treatments, and medications, she learned the best medicine was Pilates.
With passion and motivation, she changed her direction in life. She completed the rigorous, comprehensive professional training program consisting of 550 hours of observation, practice and study with the New York City based classical studio. She trained under Elle Jardim and Donna Singer, students of legendary master, Romana Kryzanowska. Her mentor, Alexia Simmons, a student of Brett Howard, taught her that staying true to The Method would never fail her.
Upon moving to Illinois in 2018, Rebecca completed her Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) certification followed by Eagala Equine Specialist Certification with Veteran Designation. Her focus is on serving Veterans in this modality of utilizing horses for connection and mental and physical health benefits.
Rebecca’s passion is empowering others to gain physical and mental strength and mobility in their everyday lives through Joseph Pilates’s Method and horsemanship. When she is not practicing or teaching Pilates or riding or teaching horseback riding, she is wife to husband Andrew, who continues to proudly serve in the United States Army, and Mother to Marie and Wes, ages 13 and 11.
Serving Veterans and Non-Profit Organizations
I believe that service to others is how we earn our place on this Earth. I dedicated four years to the military as a combat Veteran and another 15 years as an Army Spouse, supporting my husband while he serves. I have worked in the non-profit industry for over 20 years. I am a grant writer for non-profit organizations, and a PATH and Eagala Certified Therapeutic Horsemanship Instructor dedicated to serving Veterans in this modality. Utilizing horses helped me as a participant overcome many obstacles I was facing due to being a combat Veteran.
If you are a Veteran or know of a Veteran who would be interested in Veteran Horsemanship activities, please reach out and let me know.
